The Measurement Software Toolkit is a collection of documents and software that may be downloaded by registered users.

Calculation of measurement uncertainty is the main theme. There are documents in the Toolkit about different methods of uncertainty calculation, including Monte Carlo methods and the proprietary GUM Tree method. There are also software libraries that implement the GUM Tree method. These include add-ins for Microsoft Excel and a library written in R .

A topic of particular interest is the calculation of uncertainty for complex-valued quantities. This is important in a number of areas, including AC electrical and RF and microwave measurements.

A new area of interest is spreadsheet checking and validation. An Excel add-in that provides worksheet function assertions is now included in the toolkit. It has been designed for spreadsheet and worksheet function testing .

New versions of the Excel add-ins for real-valued (SGUM.xll) and complex-valued (CGUM.xll) uncertainty calculations are now available to download.

Each add-in is distributed in an archive with a Help file for Excel, a short manual and some example worksheets.

The add-ins are XLLs (complied C code in a dynamic link library) that use the current GUM++ libraries to perform calculations.

Release 0.71 of the Assert add-in for Excel is now avaliable.

Assert provides worksheet functions to test cells, or cell ranges, and to report any failures that occur. Individual cells, or cell ranges, can be tested for logical truth, for exact equality (non-numerical values) and for numerical closeness (given a tolerance).
